CARE ADVICE
Our waders are the toughest, most durable waders on the market but this doesn’t mean that they are unbreakable. Like with all gear, you have to take care of your waders in order for them to last and fire on all cylinders. Below you have a few important tips and trix on how to keep your LOC waders alive and deliver on your expectations year after year...
-
When you are done fishing for the day, turn your waders inside out to dry before using them again. This is important as you will prolong the life of your wader. And it´s always nice to slide into a dry, cosy wader in the morning. Note! Try not to dry your waders directly in the sun. If you need too, turn the zipper away from the sun.
-
Never leet your waders be stored wet and moist for example in a car booth or in a bag etc. This could cause mildew growth which could damage the fabric as well as speeding up the Hydrolytic Degradation (that´s aging process in plain English) of the TPU coating on the waterproof zipper. Causing it to swell, crack and/or delaminate.
Should these damages occur on the zipper it is not covered by the warranty as it is not material failure but caused by the user.
-
If you have been fishing in the salt rinse your waders with plenty of fresh water when you are done. Our waders are made to be used in the salt but like everything usen in the salt, salt is a killer. So rinse with fresh water and your wader will be with you for a very long time.
-
We suggest you wash your waders two or three times a year. It´s easy. Separate the 3-D mesh liner from the wader and put both parts in a bathtub with lukewarm water and a very mild detergent. Let it soak and then rinse and dry.
-
Make sure that your wading boots have the correct sizing and fits perfectly. If your boots are too big it will cause unnecessary friction and wear as you walk, shortening the life span of the neoprene feet. A quick tip, if your existing boots are too big, is to buy a thin, 3mm neoprene sock to wear outside the LOC sock. This is a great interim solution until you buy new boots.
-
Never lubricate the waterproof zipper. This could cause dust and debris to stick to the sealings in the zipper causing it to leak. Your zipper should have some resistance when closing and opening it, should you feel the resistance becomes tougher and tougher, just clean it with fresh water.
-
When closing up the waterproof zipper make sure no fabric fibers from your undergarments or sweater are stuck in the zipper. This is the most common cause for zippers to leak and very, very easy to avoid.
-
Use your belt - The belt is a crucial part of the design as it keeps the
wader in place preventing fabric folds and unnecessary wear of the fabric when walking. -
If you have an accident when out fishing and you want to do a quick fix to repair your waders do NOT use Aquaseal or similar repair products. This will void the warranty. Best is to simply use a common repair patch that you use for repairing bicycle tires or just regular contact glue and any sort of waterproof patch. When you are done fishing, send the waders to us and we´ll do a permanent repair. If it is a warranty claim there is no cost for you. If you are the cause of the damage, then we´ll access the damage and get back to you with a cost proposal.
